The Borrowed Car
Context
Nadia takes her flatmate Ryan's car keys without asking, intending to use the car for a weekend trip and return it Monday. Ryan had previously told Nadia she could borrow the car 'any time.' Nadia believed Ryan would not object. She gets into an accident Saturday and the car is written off. The prosecution charges Nadia with theft under the Theft Act 1968.
